These gorgeous prints of Sema + Russell's Lake Wylie Wedding (Charlotte, NC), Jackie and Chase's Dairy Barn Wedding (Fort Mill, SC), and Jacque and Blake's Seed Mill Barn Wedding (Monroe, NC) were made with the finest paper and mat methods! I love being able to offer unique fine art prints and products to my customers, and I'm so glad these are in my collection. I wanted to take a little time today and talk about my methods and what makes this hands-on product so special!
THE PAPER
I start by printing these Fine Art Photographs on the finest photographic paper. Hahnemuhle has been making paper since 1584 and is the oldest paper maker in Germany. I have chosen a 100% cotton, smooth matte, fine art photo rag paper with a gsm of 308 for these pieces. They feature a hand-torn edge and are float-mounted within the mat, which I do in-house. These are some of my favorite products, because I love being able to take part in the process!
THE MAT BOARD
The mats for these pieces are 16x20 inches with 8x10 inch openings. The top mat is 8ply, which is super thick and made of 100% cotton rag. The backing is just as archival, but a bit thinner. They are museum grade archival mats used in a conservation matting and mounting method.
THE MOUNTING METHOD
The prints are float-mounted on an archival mat board, which is attached to the backing board with LINECO adhesive. I do this to create depth within the mounting and make the piece more dynamic in a minimalistic way. I use LINECO linen hinging tape for some pieces and LINECO adhesive for others to attach the print to the mount. Both methods are conservation grade archival matting and mounting methods.
I then finish off the piece with my signature in pencil!
